Magic Book, CLP Power HK Ltd • 2010-2015
CLP Power Hong Kong Ltd introduced its first one-stop green living ECO Home at the AGM. To arouse the visitors’ interest, an interactive flipbook called Magic Book was set up for visitors to view the event photos, simply by waving their hand in the air to flip through the album pages, like magic.
Magic Book utilizes computer tracking technology to trigger human-computer interaction. Audience uses hand wiping gesture in conjunction with the on-screen arrow to flip through pages without actual contact.
As the flipping is based on gesture sensing, it is important to make the page turning animations realistic, so 3D animations for both forward and backward flipping actions are made to simulate the real page motions.
Say Hi! Interactive Photo Station, Don Quijote Hawaii • 2012
The “Say Hi!” interactive photo station was designed and created for the Don Quijote (Kaheka store) in Honolulu, Hawaii. It was intended to add fun and amusement elements to the store. The photo station was equipped with various interactive technologies, including touch application, enhanced reality effects and face recognition system.
At the photo station, people can tap on the touchscreen to choose different Hawaiian style outfit items, place them on their own photo and transform themselves into Hawaiian style. Then they may take a snapshot of the finished look, and send the picture to friends and family via email.
This is how the face recognition mechanism works. When the sensor detects a person’s face, the shooting mode will be triggered. The key is to control shooting distance by making the person stand in the right spot and look into the camera. With enhanced reality effects, the virtual Hawaiian styling overlay is configured to follow the real person’s movement, resulting in a good photo.
The setup invites creative participation of customers and provided lots of entertainment for shoppers at the store. onActivity oversaw the entire software engineering, programming, system integration and installation process.
